Adult stem cells take New York woman from death’s door to dance floor July 31, 2007

BANGKOK, Thailand, 31 July 2007 – An infection from a root canal treatment nearly destroyed the life of Ann Bonarelli, a New York native. From a healthy, active life she got to the point where she could not breathe as the infection settled in her heart. Her valve stopped working and her heart began to fail.

Her doctors initially thought she had pneumonia but discovered the real problem and rushed her to have an urgent valve repair. She spent the following months in a state of constant tiredness and grew sick of being tired all the time.

She read about Theravitae and the success they were having treating patients with congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease and cardiomyopathy using their own adult stem cells. After receiving all the information she was half-way to her decision. The deciding factor came when she could not pick up her grandson at Thanksgiving. “In that one instant, when he asked me to pick him up and I couldn’t, my mind was made up,” she said.

“What do you know about stem cells?” she asked her doctor. “They are doing great things with them, but not here,” he replied. After being shown all the information, he said: “I don’t want you to think that this is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If it works it’s going to work, but if it doesn’t work then it’s not going to work but you’ll be no worse off than you are now.”

With her family’s blessing, after they had researched and got answers to their many questions, she came to Bangkok’s prestigious Bangkok Heart Hospital, the hospital care she received was exceptional. “I never had a nurse at home pat my hand and tell me I was going to be all right. I needed somebody to tell me that,” she said. “Do whatever you have to do to have this done, because immediately you can breathe again. I can blow the little ball on the blowing machine and exercise twice a day on a bicycle without any pain. It’s just great and if it’s this great now imagine what it’s going to be like in three months time!”

Today, four months later, Ann feels as well as she did before she got ill. She can dance and swim and her future looks very bright. Her cardiologist cannot believe how well she is and sees her progress as, ‘the future of medicine’. Her Ejection Fraction (a clinical measure of the heart’s pumping efficiency) has risen dramatically from 17-27% to 45% and she only has to stop her treadmill exercises when her legs give out – not her heart. Her three-lead defibrillator has been replaced with a one-lead one and she looks back at her motivation to seek adult stem cell therapy being to be able to lift her grandson. “Now I can not only pick him up but I can carry him upstairs!” she exclaims.
